depends really on if your wife has a chance of having a family emergency or something back home and she absolutely has to leave.

the I-131 is about the same timeline, so she could end up with the greencard before the advanced parole.

for us we didn't think the extra cost of the i-131 was worth it.

My wife’s i-485 application is estimated to take 10 months. Is it worth filing an i-131 now to get a travel permit sooner? Or just wait for the green card?

Does she have elderly or ill parents back in her home country? Or some other potential emergency?

Advance Parole is an insurance policy. If I was filing I-485 now, I'd pay for it.

When I filed I-485 in 2019, I got AP for free. I never ended up using it.

I think it depends on what you have planned.

I filed for it because I have a close friend who is getting married back home in October so I had to try to do everything I can to be there and hope it will be approved by then otherwise if I didn't have that wedding to attend then I wouldn't have filed for it unless there was a family emergency

@Bignogginsjust so it's not misinterpreted... As a VJ member, your obligation is to fill out your VJ timeline as your statistics help every one here. Your timeline both helps members figure out estimates for THEIR timeline AND they help US to answer you properly (for free).

A blank one helps no one. Fill it out ASAP please!
