My petition isn't approved as of right now, but I am asking in advance. Since the new I-485 for AOS cases has integrated I-864W into I-485, that leaves the consular cases out. Will I-864W still work on the consular side for those outside the US, or do I have to do I-864? (Filing for children only)

It seems those doing consular processing will still need to complete I864W for exemptions. However, that sounds counterintuitive if the very form is going to be removed or not updated anymore by USCIS.

Note: Below will download/open a pdf file from a gov:

"The elimination of the Form I-864W from the adjustment of status process does not affect consular processing abroad, which is administered by the U.S. Department of State. "
