Hi everyone, my case was updated today, but it still says 'refused.' What does that mean?

Refused does not mean Denied.  The Refused status is used when a case is waiting for completion of some task during AP.

Good Luck!

I agree I think you are just waiting.

It seems from all the cases I have seen if you have a standard case it follows a certain pattern but if you have a slightly different one and it gets kicked out then you have to wait until maybe the one person at the Consulate who can approve reviews it, that person of course may be snowed under, on vacation etc so it becomes a wait and see situation.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Hi everyone,

I had my IR1 interview recently, and the visa officer mentioned she needed to verify some information. She gave me a 221g paper, and when I checked my case status afterward, it said "Refused." However, on last Thursday, after two weeks, the status changed to

"Administrative Processing."

Is this a good sign? Does it mean they are close to completing the process, or should I expect more waiting?

Any insights would be appreciated! Thanks!

when u presented the 601a for a waiver for overstay , was this because u did on your own or the CO said you could do this?

February interview and the time to investigate the 601 to verify information

You are just 1 of thousands the embassy deals with each month

Example in January Casa issued 1916 Non immigrant visas and 597 immigrant visas

this does not include the # of those denied or in AP like you

It just puts your case in "stuck waiting mode" while the requests from other sources come back in so a decision can be made and the CO deals with all the new interviews for March

Its rough, I know, but its the work load that you deal with now

Update: My visa was issued today. Thank God.

The interview was on February 28th.

The case status was "Refused" on February 28th, then changed to "AP" on March 13th. After 3 business days, the status changed to "Issued" on March 18th.

Thank you so much for your help and time. I really appreciate it!
