Proof of bona fide relationship K1 visa AOS

Greetings,

 

My wife entered the US on a K1 visa about 70 days ago. Do we need to include proof of bona fide marriage when filing form I-485? We are sending a certified copy of marriage license. Is that enough?

she's covered by my work health insurance and the utility bill is under her name. Do these count? We're going to have a joint bank account soon. I don't know how much proof they need I just want to get the ball rolling asap.

AOS needs to include marriage certificate from the county clerk, not just the marriage license. 

 

It doesn't hurt to include some bona fide relationship evidence with the I-485. But you definitely need to include more evidence of bona fide relationship with the I-751.

Not the OP's stage just yet, but it's never too early to think about removing conditions on the green card.  Take every piece of evidence physically coming in that indicates your shared life together, and throw it into a box.  Do the same thing digitally in a computer folder.  By ROC time, you'll have a smorgasbord of evidence to support the filing.

In addition (actually, before anything), shop for a lawyer who can draft Wills, medical & financial powers of attorney, and similar estate documents.  These make superlative evidence for ROC, and they're even more crucial to have in "life."  Remember that if you move from one U.S. state to another, your Will may need to be redone.

Thanks for your response! I'll definitely gather as many evidence for ROC as possible. What sort of evidence do you recommend for AOS (form I-485)? Will certified copy of marriage license from county clerk suffice? Thanks for your guidance.

I can add this, you can keep adding evidence online AFTER sending. So don't stress TOO much about not having it right now. But a certified copy would work!
