Restricted SSN - How to answer on I-485 and I-765

Greetings,

 

My wife entered the US with a K1 visa and we got married within 90 days. Then  we applied for a new SSN and her card came with this restriction: "Valid for Work only with DHS authorization".

 

On both I-485 and I-765 forms there is a question asking if SSA has ever issued a SSN which we answered "Yes". Then the following question asks If we want SSA to issue a social security card. My question is, if we answer yes, will SSA automatically send an unrestricted card when AOS is approved or do we answer no and physically apply for unrestricted SSN at social security office once we have the green card?

Yes, this is correct for I-485 form.

 

Check the box to issue card, this will save you trip to SSA.

 

If I-765 approved, restricted card will be sent.

 

Then when I-485 is approved, unrestricted card will be sent.
