Green Card Holders.

Hello,

I’ve heard reports that U.S. Customs is asking some Green Card holders if they want to give up their status upon entry. Some were even asked to sign documents. Not sure if this is just a rumor or a scare tactic.

Have you heard anything about this?

This can happen to greencard holders who have been outside of the US for a long time, and is not new.

This is nothing new at all; existed for ages. Those who are suspected of abandoning their LPR status upon reentry can be asked to voluntarily sign form I-407 to officially give it up or face an immigration or let in with a warning after extensive secondary inspection.

Thank you everyone! I thought it was general procedure but with the new Administration I wanted to confirm if it was more sticker.

Everything is stricter with new administration.
