I have read some posts where people have been accepted but if not then they will return the package and ask you to resubmit with the correct payee. I don't think you can retrieve it or correct the error until they send you a request to do so. They receive so many applications that any correspondence that you sent to them now would probably get lost.

It probably will be accepted, the recommended wording is "Department of Homeland Security" but USCIS is a department of DHS so should not be a problem.

No way to ask for beck, if they reject they will send it back along with the entire packet.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

So the 'mistake' is that the money order was made payable to USCIS?

If so, don't worry, they'll just cash it as normal... the I-129F instructions might say payments should be made to the Department of Homeland Security, but if you look on the USCIS website, it actually says they can be made to the Department of Homeland Security or United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. Obviously it's always a good idea to follow the instructions on the relevant form, but in this case... well, we made out the check for our I-129F to USCIS, and it was cashed without any problems. I know many others have done the same. So don't worry! :)

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

From what I understand, incorrect payments will cause the entire petition to be returned.

The incorrect amount will but making the payment payable to USCIS is acceptable.

We had our I-129F returned because I botched the date on the check, and on the notice that came along with the form it noted that payments sent to Department of Homeland Security were preferred, but payments sent to USCIS were acceptable. I would be surprised if you had any problems with it.

Can anyone help me plzzz.

I send the money order to uscis with my name on it instead of my husband''s because he wasn't with me at the moment. I just wanted to know if they send you the stuff back so you can fix it or I get declined, I really can't afford to lose that money :(

@Maiza First - if this is for K-1 Visa, it is important to refer to him as your fiance until married. Just be mindful, mistaken reference as someone already being married could lead to denial.  For the money order - as long as it is made out to DHS and they correct amount they do not care who the check or money order comes from. Hope that helps!
