Hi everyone,

I have a question about how I filled out the employment section in my K-1 visa application, and I’d really appreciate any insights.

I’ve been working remotely for a U.S. company as a contractor for the past four years, but I live in Ecuador with my parents.

I met my fiancé in 2023, and we’ve been visiting each other since late 2023. On my last trip to the U.S. in December, CBP warned me that I was visiting too frequently on a tourist visa and shortened my "admit until" date.

Since I didn’t want USCIS to mistakenly assume I was working in the U.S. while visiting my fiancé (which was not the case), I decided not to include my employer’s U.S. address in the I-129F form.

Instead, I listed my occupation as “Freelancer” with my home address in Ecuador and provided my job details as:

  • Full Name of Employer: Freelancer
  • Employer Address: My home address in Ecuador
  • Occupation: Freelancer - Data & Reports
  • Employment Dates: 2021 - Present

I’ve heard that USCIS mainly focuses on the petitioner’s financial ability rather than the beneficiary’s employment details. Given how I filled out the form, could this cause any issues with my application?

I don´t want to have any issues. I appreciate any advice. Thank you.
