Hey folks. I'm a permanent resident in Canada. I already have a B1 visa for the USA. I'm applying for US visitor visa for my parents living in India. We have close family members who are US citizens. When my parents visit me in Canada, I want to take them to the US to meet with our extended family there.

Would it help if I provide an invitation letter from close family who are US citizens?

No, it would not help

B2 tourist visa parents need to qualify on their own merit

and best for them to petition before getting to Canada and they need to do this ASAP

Notice

Non-Canada resident applicants can anticipate wait times of approximately 600 calendar days for an appointment.

You will need a B2 to visit family

It’s not much better in India, hopefully the OP’s parents aren’t traveling for a while. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/global-visa-wait-times.html

Thank you for replying. They will surely be applying from India itself. Not from Canada. I'm just curious, in what scenarios do these invitation letters from US citizens help? Or are they of no use in visa applications?

Yes, they're not planning to come any time soon unfortunately due to the wait times :(. For context, they got their Canadian visa in ~3 weeks including the appointment and the stamping.

Such letters are not required and don't "help."  There is also no sponsorship for B visas.

yeah,  New Delhi for 1 is 442 days so they need to file ds 160 as soon as they can

Even if u were USC,  letter of invitation would not help and sometimes hurts the tourist visa petition
