Hi everyone,

I am preparing to file my N-400 naturalization application and need clarification regarding the 5-year travel history requirement.

I became a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) in June 2019 while residing in Saudi Arabia. I officially moved to the U.S. on May 8, 2020 and have continuously lived here since then. I plan to submit my N-400 application on February 23, 2025, which means my 5-year continuous residence period will be counted from February 23, 2020.

Before my official move in May 8 2020, I made a short trip to the U.S. in January 2020 for about two weeks. Since my travel history must cover the 5 years preceding my application date (i.e., from February 23, 2020, onward), should I include this January 2020 trip in my travel history? At that time, I was still residing in Saudi Arabia, and my last departure from the U.S. was in January 2020.

Similarly, my wife also became an LPR before moving to the U.S. with me in May 2020. However, her last visit to the U.S. before our move was in July 2019, when she exited the U.S. and stayed abroad for over 10 months before permanently relocating in May 2020. Should we include her July 2019 trip in the travel history section, even though it falls outside the 5-year window (starting from February 23, 2020)?

Would appreciate any guidance on this!

Thanks!
