I'm a k-1 applicant in Manila. Need advice. Here's the situation:

  • My CEAC said "READY" since January 30, 2025.
  •  I've filed an escalation via public inquiry on Feb 12, 2025 for the welcome letter
  •  It's Feb 19 and still nothing.
  • I called USEM customer service and they emphasized that if i dont have the welcome letter (not the k1-ftp) before booking ANYTHING, otherwise I will not be entertained in the embassy
  • I can't do another public inquiry because they said I have to wait 2 more weeks.
  • My i-129f is expiring Feb 27.

The main advice was for me to wait. I'm usually positive about the process, but right now i'm so scared messing this up. Any advice on how to move forward? Has anyone been rejected before for not having a welcome letter? I just feel like it's a joke with all the other posts here saying they didn't wait for a welcome letter anymore 😕

even if your i-129f expires, the officer conducting the interview can extend the validity of the acceptance at the time of the interview, so don't stress too much about that.

@Edward and Jaycel  went through the manila embassy, they may have more insight on whether the welcome letter is needed.

HI! DONT QUOTE ME ON THIS, BUT THIS IS WHAT I GOT FROM SIMPLY TYPING IT ONLINE. AND YOU RE NOT AN IMMIGRANT YET. SO OBVIOUSLY YOU WILL NOT HAVE THAT LETTER. NG

There is no NVC welcome letter for a K1, the only communication you will receive from NVC is an email stating that the petition is in transit to the consulate. Since you have been provided the case number and the case is in READY status then proceed.

* Disclaimer - Jaycel went through this process 6 months ago, so things may have changed *

That being said, nowhere at any point in the interview process did the embassy ask for a welcome letter from Jaycel. They only asked her Appointment Confirmation print-out, DS-160 confirmation page, passport, NBI Clearance, Birth Certificate, CENOMAR, the sealed medical exam report from SLEC and the passport sized photos.

The Manila Embassy has a reputation for being hit or miss in sending out the welcome letter - That's why K-1 Visa applicants don't wait for it.
