Hello,

The date at which I may file my application under Form N-400 is coming up.

Apart from the following, is there any other information or evidence required? Such as personal photographs, endorsements (because they had to be done for filing for K-1 and residency for a bona fide application)?

According to USCIS in this link - Application for Naturalization | USCIS - a Form N-400 is to be submitted alongside the following:

  • LPR Card/Green Card
  • Marital status - copy of marriage certificate
  • Moral character references (none of these apply to me)
  • Evidence of filed tax return
    • My wife and I have recently filed jointly, but not yet confirmed on any taxes owed - would a receipt of the filing be sufficient?
  • Continuous residence and physical presence
    • IRS tax transcripts
    • Bank statements
    • Passport stamps
    • Car registration and insurance
    • Rent payments
    • Work payslips
  • Selective service is not applicable.
  • Evidence of spouse's US citizenship status

Is that all? They seem to ask for a lot less than they did for K-1 and Green Card.

Thank you for your help!

Yes, this seems like everything. Don't forget when it says "bank statements", "IRS tax refurn transcripts" it's asking for more than 1 statement and all pages of all statements.

So if you submit evidence since your marriage until filing N-400, there's going to be a lot of evidence of bonafide marriage.

Assuming you file online the system will tell you exactly what to include.

This section only applies if you have taken trips outside the US longer than 6 months, otherwise ignore:

Continuous Residence and physical presence documentation for the last 3 years if you have taken any trips outside the United States during the last 3 years that lasted more than 6 months but less than 1 year.

N-400 under 3 year rule typically implies all of that evidence, as it demonstrates ongoing bonafide marriage.

Curious here...we need to upload every bank statement for 3 or so years? I would think one statement with the same bank account number for each year would be enough...in addition to all the other evidence. Am I wrong? (If I am, no wonder the process takes so long).

I would upload all statements, yes.

USCIS needs to see you use your bank accounts and share finances through the years, on daily basis.

The amount of evidence has nothing to do with processing times. Most of the times the case sits in the queue and waits for its turn. Then officer opens file, spends 10-20 minutes on it and decides the case. He doesn't read each line of each statement, unless there's something suspicious about the case or evidence. The way evidence is used - officer takes a quick sample (random statement or two) from everything uploaded and ensures it's good.

Don't forget, everybody naturalizing has to go to interview. This is where most of time on case is spent, probably 30-40 minutes per person on average.

About 30000 people filed for N-400 in December 2024 alone. Multiply it by 30 (optimistic estimate). This equals to 900 000 minutes on interviews alone, or 15000 hours... And every month there are new filers.
