Can we request UAE (Abu Dhabi) consular processing for my Fiancee who is a Pakistani citizen but been working in UAE for last 2 years? Will the US consulate in Abu Dhabi consider our application or do we need to select US consulate in Islamabad.

Anyone has any idea if US consulate in Abu Dhabi processes K1 faster than Islamabad?

Thank you!

If you have legal status in another country, you can request to be interviewed there.

It will not be faster, particularly for Pakistanis, who often end up in protracted AP.

Thank you for your response.

We are considering request to be interviewed in Abu Dhabi as she is currently working there so it will be a lot easier to coordinate medical, interviews, etc. And also easier for me to visit Dubai vs Pakistan.

What causes protracted AP? Anything we can do to make it less protracted?

It is because of Pakistan's poor criminal record-keeping processes.  Nothing you can do about it.

Yes. As @SalishSea said you can request the K1 interview be at a 3rd country provided the beneficiary has legal status there.

According to the latest VJ data

https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/stats.php

The average number of days from the consulate receiving the case from NVC to the interview are:

34 days: Pakistan

78 days: United Arab Emirates

So Pakistan seems faster to the interview than UAE. The consulate would want police records or single status document of both the home country and the third country.

For the beneficiary who wants to continue working in the 3rd country while waiting for K1 approval, these are the trade-offs

Not sure that PCCs from Pakistan are ever accepted by the DOS?  They don't accept them at NVC.  The extra efforts involved in satisfying the background checks for Pakistanis is what contributes to the extended APs.
