I've been looking for a thread like this, but I haven't found one yet. I just wanted to ask, for those who also processed K2 visas, how did you guys plan the next steps? Like finding school for the kids etc? Depending on the time of migration, were you guys able to find a school right away or you have to wait for some time? What are the usual requirements needed?

My kids are half american, so while they will be moving with me and have never lived in the US, they do not need a K2. I plan to homeschool my youngest while my oldest will be going to highschool. Most of my research has been about homeschooling, because I am not familiar with it. I find it quite difficult to know what to do about HS because we do not know when we will be moving yet. But you can look up school information about the state you are moving to, that is probably a good start.

First obvious choice would be public schools in your district. If these are not satisfactory, then look at private or Catholic schools in your area. Simple Google search would give you answers. Type in name of your town and add board of education in your search.

For public schools you can usually enroll kids at anytime. You will need proof of identity and address. Website for the district will list all required documents.
