Noa2 Extension

Hello, I have a question but haven't found an answer yet. Can I extend the Noa2 but the reason is not because there is not a date available for the interview but because I have exams at university I want to finish before moving to the USA. So I would book my interview after my dateline? Is that possible?

You'd have to contact the consulate and ask. They do sometimes extend. When would you be done with exams?

I will be done next February. But I don't have the Noa2 yet, I should get it around March but I'm already stressing about it.

2025-04 to 2025-05: Texas Service Center NOA1 to NOA2 is on average 140-166 days (5-6 months)

2025-06 to 2025-07: NOA2 to NVC is about 68 days (2 months)

2025-08 to 2025-09: At NVC (32 days) to consulate (3 days)

 

For Italy, the days receiving from NVC to interview is about 78-92 days (2-3 months)

2025-10 to 2025-12: You can choose to schedule the medical or interview for later dates in a window of 4 to 6 weeks (about 1 to 1.5 months).

 

The K1 visa itself is good for 5 months after it is issued.

2025-03 to 2025-05: K1 expiration, unless I'm missing some calculations?

 

So I would not request a NOA2 extension but instead, after the consulate receives your case, schedule the medical or the consulate interview for later dates in the window of 4- to 6-weeks as that may give you more control of the timing and schedule.

Small correction, the visa validation is based on the medical appointment, not date of issueing.

Yes, I believe the K1 is good for 6 months after the medical?

Correct! But sometimes the medical and interview are a bit further apart than 1 month

No, move in February so have the Visa 6 months before that.
