Getting large book and passport card at Passport Agency

Hi everybody,

 

Does anybody know whether it's possibile to get the first time passport as a large book as well as passport card when applying through passport agency?

 

I may have a business trip that may come shortly after interview / oath and would need to get the passport ASAP.

Yes, Dallas Passport Agency gave me a large book as well as passport card all within a couple of hours.

Make sure your travel is planned within the next day or at least before their next opening (they will ask for the itinerary). Or else they might choose to mail it. At Dallas passport agency, they grouped us differently based on our travel dates. Someone who was planning to travel in 2 weeks was told that their passport will be mailed instead of giving it to them later the same day.

We did just that.  Applied for wife and stepdaughter at San Diego Passport Agency the day after naturalization.  Large books and cards were both available for pickup by will call the next day.

If by "large book" you mean "with many pages" (consulates issue by default this one, btw), this is called the "grand voyageur" passport  (me thinks is a very cool name).

Why are you referencing French government website?

 

It is actually called "large book" in offical DS-11 form:
