Hi everyone,

My K1 visa case has been sitting at the NVC since December 27, 2024, and there’s been no movement. I received my case number through public inquiry on February 3, 2025, but since then, the status on CEAC is still at NVC, and I haven’t received the official K1 FTP letter yet.

I’ve seen other people with later case dates for Ankara, Turkey already receiving their official letters while mine is still at NVC.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? I reached out to the NVC again via public inquiry last week but haven’t received any updates. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much in advance for any support!

PS: I received my NOA2 on November 8, 2024.

Oof, that must be very frustrating. It is not unheard of, unfortunately. This stage is quite hard to deal with because you have zero way of knowing what is going on.

Something that might be of use is to see if you can already start your application. I hadn't gotten my K1-FTP either (it was actually erroneously sent to the US Citizen) but was able to apply and set everything up with my case number. This was a different embassy (Frankfurt) but  you never know...

Reading is what? Fun-da-men-tal!

Thanks for the suggestion! I totally agree, it’s really frustrating not knowing what’s going on. As far as I know, people can set an appointment even when their case is still in transit. Also, from what I understand, the K1-FTP letter should be sent at the same time as the case is transferred to the referred embassy, so it’s a bit strange that we haven’t received it yet. Our case just seems to be sitting at their office. Hopefully, things will start moving soon!

my husband (then fiance) didn't receive the K1-FTP letter until almost a month after our case had already been at the embassy in Germany.

sometimes getting that letter is incredibly slow.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m curious, when you had this issue, did you have your case number to check even before receiving the K1-FTP letter?

yes
we contacted the NVC when the date for their processing times updated to after our case was there.

they were able to provide us the case number, and basically attached a copy of the K1-FTP to that email.

I see, thanks for sharing! It seems like our case might be a bit different, and I'm trying to figure out the next steps. We do have our case number, but when we check with the case number we received via public inquiry, the website still shows that our case is at NVC.

the case number will be the same on the K1-FTP.

I remember some time last year reading that some embassies request cases to be sent to them versus the NVC just sending them automatically. i'm not 100% sure if that is accurate, but if it is, it could be that situation.

since it is still at the NVC, i would think you could try contacting the embassy itself and see if they have any idea.

other wise it may just be a sit an wait unfortunately

Thanks for the insight! I know the case number is the same, but unfortunately, I can’t do anything until the site shows that our case is in transit. I’ve noticed that some cases sent to NVC after ours, and to the same embassy, have already been transferred, and people have even scheduled their interviews. It’s a bit puzzling, but I’ll reach out to the embassy soon to see if they can provide any updates. It’s a waiting game for now, but I appreciate your help!
