I don't know what side of the bed this interviewer servant woke up on, but obvoiusly they have something against us.

see attached denial.

She was already "documentarily qualified" with all required tax returns, forms AND we went thru HELL to get a DNA test they required, which is a total money grab and waste of time.. it's NOT our fault they took over 5 months to get the info over to the embassay and schedule an interview! so now due to THEIR incompetence they are reqesting a 2024 Tax Return which is not even due for us until Sept! (we always go on extension) .

On the Denial they also cross out "HOUSEHOLD MEMBER" and check "JOINT SPONSOR" - which as you correctly state above, is totally wrong according to their OWN RULES.. (I am the husband living in the same house) and we already filled out BOTH the i-864 and i-864A Affidavits of Support! Which was required to even get to this point! do we just print it out again? My income and our assets total around $2 million!

If they are checking off Joint Sponsor as a requirement isn't that an error? how can it be corrected?

can anyone give us any advice here? it's really infuriating it's been 2 years of hell.

anything is appreciated. Best, Mike

It is frustrating, but it is usually a path of least resistance to just give them what they want:

Looks to me like you need to:

1.  Get the medical done (if not already)

2.  Primary sponsor completes a new I-864

3.  You complete an I-864 as joint sponsor

4, Supply transcript and/or tax return package for the latest tax year (not sure why they want 2024 already) for both I-864s...along with current annual income documentation.

5.  Copy of petitioner and joint sponsor's passport

Upload those documents and this letter to CEAC.  Then send copies of those and the applicant's passport to the consulate through LBC.

Hopefully, that will satisfy them.  Good luck.

It cannot get corrected. Consular officer has some level of discretion. They were not convinced by the docs submitted so far and want more information and joint sponsor to ensure the immigrant won't become a public charge.

Are you employed full time?

Sorry you have to deal with this.

If you can explain what all was submitted so far for Affidavit of Support, VJ community can help with the next steps.

Looping @pushbrk , the expert in this area

i have both i864 and i864a fully filled out , i don't think they will allow it posted here because of all the sensitive data?

it's soo infuriating , public charge! I own 6 houses in 3 different states! no mortgages!  they let literally millions of criminal public charges thru illegally (before trump) yet I'm trying to get my wife's aging mother here legally and it's a nightmare, it's really sickening.

yes employed full time with my own business since 1991. We are well above the poverty line , in fact we are probably top 5% ers

Ok, but which supporting docs did you submit for these forms? You don't have to publish sensitive data, but just describe so we understand.

everything they wanted, values of our houses (over 1.5 million no mortgages) bank accounts, mutual funds ($200k), tax returns showing at least 100K income.

it's insane. do I need to be as rich as Trump to get my wife's mother here?  Should I add in our new RV ?  this is ridiculous

ok yes they are getting the medical done.

the primary sponsor? is that my wife? she has no job but we are married filing jointly so she owns half of everything?

I will do the joint sponsor but I already did it as household member, guess I just have to do it over as joint..

Will try to get my taxes done but I didn't even get all the paperwork yet! these people are ridiculous asking for 2024, again done on purpose in my opinon.

Annual income documentation is basically on the tax return? I have w2's and will have to talk to my accountant for more.

passports are the only easy thing here.

What exact docs were submitted for this? Tax return transcripts from IRS website? Which years? Do all years have 100K income? How big is household size?

yes IRS transcripts: 2019 - $102k  2020 - $78k  2021 - 60K  2022 - 90k

At the time these were submitted they only required up to 2021 because it was soo long ago. Is it our fault they delayed this for so long (probably on purpose in my opinion) .

household size, my wife, me, 8yr old, 4 yr old and my 16 yr old step daughter naturalized us citizen with mom.

I have seen another case where a CO did that already.  Doesn't make sense to require 2024 tax year documents.  Does your wife have income?  If not, then that might explain why they want you to be a Joint Sponsor.  @pushbrk is a guru for these situations.  He can probably clarify some of this.  Good luck.
