For those who submitted packages in early February, have you received a notice from USCIS?? How long does it take to hear from USCIS after we sent the package?

My background is a tourist visa holder and got married to US citizen.
We decided to get a preparer for filing AOS.

My preparer is not that open about how the process goes.
He said he already sent the package on February 3rd and he just said to us to wait.
I really wanted to know if the money already cashed out or even the package is already received by USCIS. But he gave us nothing.

Unfortunately, he didn’t file for electronic notification so I have to wait for the mail to come.

I am completely clueless right now.
Any advice??

That was a mistake. Either you had to study everything and file forms yourself OR you could've hired an immigration lawyer. "Preparers", notarios often harm people's cases by filing things incorrectly or not filing at all.

It typically takes 4-8 weeks to get receipt for filed petitions.

So let me guess, did you pay with money order instead of personal check? Why? With personal check you can track things.

Demand proof of delivery from that preparer.

I'm sorry to say, but there's very great chance you got scammed. But you won't know for sure until 4-8 week go by.

Did you review paperwork before it was sent? Do you have copies of what all was allegedly submitted? Like, for example, did you include medical exam I-693?

I appreciate your time in responding to my questions.

I don’t fully understand about the payment and the preparer ask the full price including his service. We just let him do anything he needs to do.

I will try to ask for tracking number.

yes I did review everything before it was sent. I don’t have a copy of the package yet but I already told him I wanted a copy of it.

and yes I did include the medical exam.

Stop dealing with the preparer.

Going forward with the other steps of the process, I recommend you own your own process and use VJ as a resource.      This is what most of us here have done.

No one cares as much about it as you do.   We’ve seen countless delays and denials due to incompetencies.

Hopefully, you’ll receive your notice soon. Once you do, you can create an online account to track your progress on USCIS. Unless your case is particularly complex, most USCIS forms are straightforward, and there are plenty of resources to guide you through the process. Wishing you the best.

I think you got scammed.  If they didn't file for you, come back here and let this community help you. If you don't have a complicated case, you can do it yourself, and ask questions here.

Let me add a little salt to the thread: We filed the 29th and haven’t heard anything yet. It can take 4-8 weeks. There is a chance you haven’t been scammed! But the lack of communication is a red flag.

Submitted i-129F: 12-4-23
Received/NOA1: 01-31-24
Approved/NOA2: 06-05-24

Medical Exam: 08-06-24
Interview: 09-13-24 APPROVED
Visa in hand: 09-23-24
Moving date: 11-02-24
Married: 01-03-25
AOS Filed: 01-28-25

Biggest delay so far: requested SSN on 13th of November, never received the card, got the number in person Jan 16th.

Yes, I do aware of that.

my spouse kept insisting on getting a preparer since he is busy and doesn’t have any time to do a research even though I already offered myself to do it.

If I could rewind it, I would just do it by myself.

yes, the lack of communication has been making me a lil bit uncomfortable.

gladly I got the tracking number and checking my case with emma.

it said that USCIS already has been received my package and I need to wait for the receipt number in the mailbox up to 30 days.

hopefully both of us hear something back from USCIS soon and everything goes well for us 🤞
