I am sorry if this question was answered but my wife has interview next week and I’m worried about this. I just saw someone on this forum ask about originals of nvc documents to show at embassy interview. It made me want to check what we submitted last year.

I am naturalized Ukrainian citizen and live in Colorado.

My wife is Ukrainian citizen and she currently lives in Turkey and her interview location is Turkey. (Ankara, capital)

We uploaded these documents as supporting material to nvc:
My Naturalization certificate,
Copy of my US passport,
Copy of my US drivers license,
Copy of my US car registration

I just noticed this from interview email:

  • You submitted documentation to the National VisaCenter through the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC). You must present all original documents at the time of interview.
  • Failure to present all necessary original documents to the Consular Officer may result in the refusal of your immigrant visa at the initial interview.

Did I make a mistake by not mailing originals of my documents I listed above? (Car registration, drivers license, naturalization certificate and passport?)

they say we must bring only originals but I didn’t mail these to my wife, everything else was digital like IRS tax returns.

What should I do?

Originals at the interview are needed only for visa applicant.

Wife should bring copies of your docs.

This is a confusing statement. Do you mean you're a dual citizen, originally Ukraine and now naturalized US citizen?

Yes I am naturalized us citizen but I am not dual citizen. I’m originally from Ukraine. My wife is Turkish citizen but she is originally from Ukraine.

You calmed my mind, so I did NOT need to send originals of my naturalization certificate or car registration because they were uploaded to nvc right?

I was confused because email from embassy said “you must bring all originals of documents uploaded to ceac to interview. “

Did you formally renounce Ukrainian citizenship? It doesn't dissappear automatically if you naturalize elsewhere. Renunciation is a long and difficult process, with final step being president himself signing a decree to allow renounciation. Sorry if I used "dual" term, more precise term is you have multiple citizenships.

Yes I did it successfully long time ago. I am only us citizen for last 14 years.

I am only worried about originals of my naturalization certificate and documents like car registration and drivers license. I uploaded them as evidence for some items and wondering if consulate will want to see originals of those.

Congrats, I heard it's nearly impossible nowadays.

Not as far as I know. Your wife can print the copies, but originals of your docs aren't expected.

Hello dear poster, please I will like to ask you a question, how long did your wife wait in Turkey for before she gets her interview letter? I’m also in Turkey waiting for interview letter for my CR1 now. Thank you
