Hello,

I'm 10 year green card holder with no pending cases. My GC was processed long before the new account system so I have no information in there.

I want to update a mailing address ONLY and would like to use the new online tool.

However it asks for a previous physical address, new physical address and then a mailing address. I just want to update the mailing address.

What should I put as the previous physical address and current physical address?

Years ago (before this new online tool) I moved and filed an online AR-11, should I use that previous address and (still) current physical address?

Hi,

I went to update my mailing address using the online COA tool.

I noticed that it no longer asks for a previous address. Currently it only asks for the new address and mailing address.

Without the previous address for comparison, its no longer obvious that I didn't physically move.

My concern is that simply filling out my current address  as the "New" Address looks like I just updated my address now, when in fact I did so several years ago within the stated time required. Then I get flagged for failing to report my address on time, when I did so properly years ago.

What should I do now? Anybody have a similar experience?

I haven't updated my mailing address yet, merely expressing a concern, so nothing has happened.

I should add for context, I'm going to renew my green card soon.

My fear is, by providing my current physical address as a "new" address, this is falsely viewed as having reported a physical address change today, when I did so years ago with an AR-11 on time.

Then during the green card renewal process, the applicant reviewer views the above discrepancy and thinks "you didn't report your COA on time, and that's against the law".

I don't know anything about the green card renewal process, what they check, how they review COA's, or if they have my previous AR-11 for comparison.

I'm reaching out to know if the above scenario could happen, has happened or if anybody has updated just a mailing address with the new online tool and what they did.

@OldUser May I get some back regarding my latest post on March 2nd? Could I erroneously get a renewal application denied or NTA from the above scenario?

@OldUser Yes, for my previous AR-11 (online with an old COA portal), I received an email with a COAXXXXXXXXXXX confirmation number. Though I have no way of looking up that confirmation number.

Do you still have email and details of what you submitted? If yes, this is all you need.
