Hello Everyone,

I am a citizen of U.S and I filed for my siblings (F4 Family preference VISA) with a priority date Nov 20, 2006. I never received any update until my beneficiary received a letter last week stating that " This letter is a notification that a visa number is available". and I have one year before termination of the visa application. If I submit all the required documents and receive a DQ from NVC. How long will my brother wait till he can be interview at the U.S embassy in Lagos?. Any ideas of the timeline/years to get interview date?. Can the visa number be exhausted before his interview?. What is the probability of getting visa if he waits for two or three years.  Thank you for your reply.

What are you trying to do

Your PD became current in May 2021, and your PD was eligible to file even further back. Are you saying you’ve not submitted anything to NVC yet?

Yes, I have never submitted any documents to NVC. Never receive any email or letter except the the one last week stating about to the termination if I don't contact NVC. I didn't receive the welcome letter that have the invoice ID number. I emailed NVC on Monday requesting the invoice ID number.

Thank you for your reply.

Did you contact them when the PD became eligible for filing (5 years or so ago)? If so, what did they say then?

You must have been sent the Welcome Letter but it probably went in to spam, you’re very lucky that they haven’t cancelled the whole application. Hopefully it’ll get sent to you again (it’s an email - both you and your sibling need to check your junk/spam folders daily) and then you can proceed. Unfortunately Lagos has a lengthy wait for an interview, so it’s probably a couple of years away unless things speed up.

Based on your reply "Boiler" that the priority date was back in 2021, I don't know if it's too late to pursue the process again even though the letter from NVC stated that I still have 1 year extension to continue. Do you think it's possible to ultimately receive a visa?. Thanks.

It’s certainly possible, they’ve just warned you that this is your last chance. It’s a shame that your brother has had his move delayed, he could have had his visa years ago. Just a cautionary tale for anybody else applying for family members really, they need to be aware of the process and how it all works.

Make sure you do your research going forward and do everything in a timely manner. Good luck.

"Boiler I really appreciate your reply. When you say couples of years away. I tried to research the timeline for Lagos but no information for F4. Most information is for IR/CR/K1/F1-F2.  I would appreciate if anyone can just give me a rough idea of the number of years to wait for the interview at the U.S embassy in Lagos for F4 visa after NVC documents qualifications DQ completion.

Thanks.

I’m not Boiler. 😂 You can search timelines for any other non-immediate relative visas as they’ll be the same sort of time - just bear in mind there is obviously no way of knowing how things may change, and there’s a chance Trump will ban Nigerians again which may impact things.

Sorry for referring to you as Boiler. Trump issue is 😴.

Once again, I appreciate your reply. I'm waiting for NVC email/response.

No worries, good luck. Hopefully you’ll get the invoice no. soon and can get the process started.
