I was given a time and date for my interview in Montreal, and I tried to reschedule it as I was unable to attend.  I emailed the Consulate in Montreal to a email I was provided when I called the office (montreal-iv-dv-@state.gov).  I sent the email twice with no reply, and as my appointment was for this morning (Feb 4, 2025) I have missed it.

What are my next steps?

Reasons for requesting a different appointment time are that I was going to be away on a already planned and paid for vacation in Mexico, and that I want to make sure that both my wife and I are scheduled at the same time so we only need to make 1 trip from Vancouver to Montreal.

Thanks in advance.

Agree with @OldUser, I wouldn’t have rescheduled it either.

But it’s done now, and to reschedule you need to follow the steps and reschedule it yourself online when a slot opens up - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/MTL-Montreal.html

I appreciate your personal views on missing but it makes no sense for me to have my interview if my wife's is yet to be scheduled.  I am trying to make sure that both of our interviews are at the same time in order to limit my trip to Montreal to once.

Thanks for the answer that i have to reschedule myself on the website.

Followup question.  Is it possible to request to have the meeting moved to the US Consulate in Vancouver?

Thanks in advance

No, only Montreal does immigrant visas.

What you should have done (again, too late now, but just for others reading in the future) is asked NVC to link your and your wife’s cases. They would have done that before it was scheduled, then yours would have been held until hers was ready for interview too and you’d have been given slots together. Has your wife been DQ’ed yet? It may be worth asking NVC if they can still link them.

If you mean interview, No. Montreal is the only one that does immigrant visas

My wife and I both applied at the same time, and her file was lost or misplaced yet mine proceeded.  We resubmitted hers and now it too is going forward through the steps towards the interview.  I will request that her and my interviews be linked when we receive notice of her file being moved to Montreal.

Who do I make this request too?   I find it very hard to get a clear answer from the US Government website.

You need to contact NVC and ask that your interviews be scheduled together. If hers hasn’t been DQ’ed then that’s good, hopefully your interview already being scheduled won’t be an issue and they can link them.

Good luck.

What is the best contact email to do this?

You need to use the enquiry form. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html

Good luck.

I have used that form many times and always wonder if it is in fact effective or just kicks back a form response.

It would depend on what you used it for i.e. if it was an enquiry that should have gone to USCIS or the consulate instead then they would probably ignore it. But I’ve used it a few times and always had a response, current processing time for a response is only about a week - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html. They do usually go in to my junk/spam folder though, so do make sure you check there too.

I also used it twice, both times for things they would be responsible for and received good responses within a few days
