Hello everyone-

DS-160 completed today. We tried to pay the visa fee and schedule the embassy interview on the site www.usvisaappt.com as directed from ustraveldocs. K1 is not listed under non-immigrant visas therefore I cannot move beyond choosing a visa category.  Is anyone else having this issue? Am I looking in the wrong place? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as our approved petition expires 2/28/2025.  Thank you in advance.

Check under Immigrant visas... Most if not all embassies handle the K-1 as an Immigrant visa right up until they print the visa. And do not worry about the approval notice expiration date. If the interview happens after that date and the visa is approved, the consular officer conducting the interview will automaticaslly extend the validity date of the approval notice.

AVITS Website

Are you using this site? It is the new site for some African countries. From what I understand, they will now send you an interview date. You do not schedule online. And the US embassy of Ghana lists K1 as an immigrant visa.

Yes, I'm using the site. Where do I find information that they will schedule the interview date? Thank you for responding.

The information about them scheduling a date for you is from others who have done it recently since the new system was put in place. I would think you would still have to request for an interview anyway, but I have not done it myself yet. Waiting for NOA2.

I used the new Avits application and can confirm I was able to book and pay for an interview in Côte d'ivoire.  We are going on two months now and we never received ANY instructions from them.  I only received my case number through public inquiry and our petition sat in Côte d'Ivoire, Ready, for a month.  No email or letter but I'm not surprised, I spent two weeks there.  When you go to certain restaurants, you order food like you're at the bar.  Whoever is taller, hungrier and more bold gets served first lol.  It was the end of January when I logged in and there were available appointments February 11th and the 24th so it wasn't a matter of backlog, it was just the way the do things.  So far she went to her medical exam and everything went perfect.  No conflicts or scheduling problems.  They required her ds160 print out and x8 passport style photos.  I fed ex delivered everything she needed to complete the medical and up coming interview
