I-864Affidavit of Support- Joint Sponsor is retired

Hi, 

is there anything that speaks against having a joint sponsor that is retired? He meets the income threshold easily but obviously there’s not an employment letter that could be submitted with the I-864.

Age. Depending on the age of the JS, an adjudicator might not look positively towards someone older because they will be responsible for the sponsored until they become a citizen which can take up to 10 years. 

I'd recommend finding a different one.

Am I sure that age discrimination against older, retired sponsors? 

 

Yes. I've seen it happen.

 

You can try but I'd be prepared with an alternative sponsor if they are not accepted.
