I know everyone says to not even look at the myprogess tab, but i keep feeling depressed from the jump in timing. I filed July 2024, now going on 8 months. With Trump in office, i am worried this process will take longer. Can anyone shed light or words or encouragement.... really going through it right now as i havent seen my husband in 4 months.

If you filed in July 2024, then expect about 15 months until I-130 is approved.

So it lands you in October or November of 2025.

It could take more or less.

After approval, add another 2-3 months to get actual visa in passport.

So we're talking about January-February 2026 potentially.

As @Edward and Jaycel said, MyProgress is extremely inaccurate. It's just random numbers showing there all the time.

Can your husband visit you? Or can you meet in a third country? A summer getaway together, if you can afford it, is a cool thing to do.

Check current processing times here - https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

It also looks as though there may be a potential complication with your case according to your previous posts, so just bear in mind ’standard’ processing times may not apply and don’t get discouraged it it takes longer than others who filed at the same time.

Or much longer, depending on the consulate. 3 months would be about the norm for one of the quickest consulates (if the OP submits docs etc straight away). But it could be as long as 2 years or even more if it’s at a consulate with a big backlog. @mnelove97, if you could fill your VJ timeline in that would be helpful.

do you think there is a potential complication just because the embassy worker mentioned that during his tourist visa interview? do tourist visa interviews impact I-130?

They can do, it will depend on what has been written on his record.

Which country/embassy are you going to go through?

Also I've documented what the myprogress tab has said in the comments of my timeline. You'll see how utterly irrational it is and not to worry.

Please do fill in your timeline to help others going forward, plus once you do you’ll get a much more accurate estimate from VJ than from USCIS!

Good luck.

Pay no attention to the estimated time on USCIS’s web site. All it will do is flood you with waves of negative emotions.

I've been waiting now for nearly 14 months, since December 2023 and I haven't seen my husband since September 2024. I miss my husband beyond what words can describe. The next time I see him will be when I fly to Germany for his interview.

When I start feeling down or angry over how long it is taking, I remind myself of how long it has already taken and how close we are to reaching the 16 month point.

my thoughts for you would be to plan another trip to see each other in the next couple of months as you still have a ways to go with the USCIS stage.

My husband and I made it a point not to go more than 6 months without seeing each other. We would be planning a trip for about a month from now but we are getting close to our approval date.
