Hi everyone! 
 

We all know about the political circumstances and I’m wondering if more people are getting anxious because of the mass deportations? I am married to a USC and we filed for my AOS/greencard but a tiny part of me is starting to be afraid of the unknown… maybe I’m not alone with this and we can encourage each other!

Those here legally need not fear.  See the first post in this thread for what I had Mrs. T-B. carry with her until she naturalized:

 

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I agree, if one is here legally, and has documents proving that such as the NOA from an I485 filing they should be fine.

To my knowledge, people who submit a proper I-485 are still granted "authorized stay" until the I-485 has been adjudicated.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

You entered the country legally, and are now legally adjusting status.  Not a single iota of evidence anywhere that that will change in the short term.  They are deporting violent criminals including child rapists.

 

For your own mental health, stay off social media (X, Insta, Tik Tok et all) which is rife with illusory truths.  Stay close to official government sites and sources that are official sources of truth.

Yes, and for this reason, Jaycel carries her passport, her EAD and a copy of her I-485 NOA1 in her purse wherever she goes so that she has proof until she gets her green card.

His deportation order was challenged by Columbia and they reached agreement to accept deportations BUT Trump had to agree put sanctions on hold

I hold say Columbia won 

 

We have a Republican Congress which can change immigration laws so any USC or LPR should write to their representative to voice an opinion as Trump does not care about getting elected now but congress officials do

 

  • Right to contact a representative:
    As a constituent, an LPR has the right to reach out to their congressman to discuss concerns

The only purpose for the sanctions was to get Colombia to accept their returning citizens, so of course they were dropped when Columbia agreed to do that.

I think you're right to be concerned, but I don't think anyone who has entered on a K1 visa has anything.

 

In terms of other immigrants out of status time will tell.

 

As I said in a thread elsewhere on this site, illegal immigrants commit less crime than native born Americans. Very few are child rapists. Illegal migration is fuelled by labor demand.

To be an immigrant and out of status, well that would mean you had been a LPR and had it removed, I assume you would then be in Deportation proceedings anyway.
