I had a similar question about this:

My conditional Green Card expires April 2026. Online it says I need to file the I-90 to remove those conditions and receive a 10-year one within 90 days of the expiration date. It also says the processing time can be from 1 month to 2.5 years...

I know after 3 years of being here, I'm eligible to apply for citizenship, as I married a native. Does this mean I could, theoretically, become a US citizen before I receive my renewed 10-year Green Card? Am I even allowed to apply for citizenship while the I-90 is being processed?

TIA

Removing the conditions, you would need to prove your marriage is real. Only after you are approved to get your conditions removed, you will receive a 10 year green card. From the date you receive it is when you can start counting 3 years to file for citizenship

hi. You have the dates and info, just in a kinda jumbled up way.

you can file 751 to remove conditions on a CR1, 90 days before it expires. This will take many months to process (often 1-2 yrs) so they issue you a temporary extension to your current one whilst that is processing.

Then approx 1 yr later once you have been married AND LIVING TOGETHER (very important) for 3 years, you can file n400 for citizenship application. You are correct - this cannot be approved without your 10 yr green card being issued too, but they do allow you to apply, and in most cases this speeds up the process above and you end up with a combined interview/process.

Hope that helps. Plenty of guides and info on here about each one of those. Best of luck!
