I assume the answer is no, but just wanted to check. Worksource Oregon provides scholarship for some job trainings but then I'd be getting a state/federally funded scholarship which I feel like violates the rules of my status as a K1 holder waiting for work permit. Anyone have any knowledge on this?
Thanks!

I feel like this is either "no" or "enough of a grey area to not do it".  If this was some sort of unpaid training that didn't result in a job at the place you're training then it's probably legit. receiving scholarship money to me seems like too close to being considered pay and I woudn't take the risk personally.

Very well put, I agree. Thank you!

https://studentaid.gov/help/means-tested-benefits

By definition it is means tested benefit and although its a great idea don't do it now

The federal government offers several means-tested benefits that you and your family may want to consider as you apply for colleges or career/trade schools.

A means-tested benefit is a public benefit where the granting agency considers your income and resources for purposes of determining your eligibility for the program.
