Hello,

I am currently a U.S. citizen and thinking about applying for /renewing B1/B2 tourist visa for my dad. My parent once came to the U.S. on tourist B1/B2 visa around 11 years ago, and at that time, I was a student on F1 visa applying for the tourist visa for my dad. Now, the B1/B2 visa that my dad held was expired, and my immigration status also shifted from an international student to a U.S. citizen. I want to know, in this situation, if I want to get a new tourist visa for my dad to come to the U.S. to visit me now, do i need to completely apply for a new tourist visa for him? Or, is there a possibility to renew the previous expired visa and possibly skip the interview at consular office?

Thank you very much for all your help!

They apply nothing to do with you

Each visa is it’s own application

Where is your father from?  I'm guessing his passport is not Canadian because Canadians don't apply for tourist visas in advance.

Additionally, your father would apply for his own visa.  It's entirely up to the intending visitor to obtain their own admittance documents.

You can assist him in filling out the DS160, but it is his application and he has to apply for the B2 based on his own merits.

Good Luck!
