Hi all,

I'm just double checking what is acceptable at the Interview for Financial Documents. I have my 2023 tax return and supporting documents for that already uploaded and accepted on the CEAC website and my wife's IR-1 interview is scheduled for next month. On the travel.state.gov website it seems to indicate that my wife needs to physically bring the AoS I-864, tax return and supporting documents linked to that to the Visa Interview, but doesn't specify that these docs need to be original or certified in some way. Most of my financial docs are just printed, but SOME were mailed to me like W2s and I can use those. I have 2 tax docs from Uber/Lyft that were available on their website and I just printed them, is that okay to use or does it need to be mailed to me from them? Also I'm assuming I can just print paystubs my employer emails to me for proof of current income as well? Thanks so much!

To be honest I forgot about that. I don't think I have time to get it now since my wife's interview is on Feb 12.

You do not need originals of financial documents.  Get the tax return transcripts if you can, but otherwise complete copy of tax return including all schedules, plus W2 and 1099 forms.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

So does that mean I don't need a wet signature, in other words I can just send a scanned copy of my signed Affidavit of Support for my wife to print? Thanks again!

My wife got a 221g for my low income stated on the tax form. My liquid assets are significantly higher than the poverty. I don't understand why the Filipino Consular officer at window 60  at the Manila Embassy absolutely refused to look at the financial documents. He didn't even ask about assets. His attitude really changed when he asked the question "where is your husband" and my wife told him that I am here, temporarily living in the Philippines for the long visa process. He immediately issues a 221g claiming I'm under the poverty level. My wife tried to show him all my asset financial documents, but he put his hands up and cut her off. Why does the issue of a 221g depend on the mood and personality of the Consular officer. The Manila embassy isn't private. My wife said you can overhear the other interview conversations. She reported that the person at the adjacent window had the same situation, assets only. The Consular officer asked all the financial question at the next window and got approved.

How and when did you file your affidavit of support?  How did you document your assets?
