Mumbai sends an email outlining the steps for the K-1 visa process. They say to start with Step 1, which involves reviewing Packet 4. Packet 4 instructs you to schedule your biometrics appointment and visa interview after receiving the appointment letter. However, Mumbai's email also states that the interview is Step 7, and before that, you need to complete the medical exam and obtain a police certificate. This creates confusion because it’s unclear if you should schedule biometrics and the interview without an appointment letter or wait until after completing the other steps.

Why do people say the consulate schedules your interview if you have to schedule it yourself? When I called the embassy, I received conflicting information. One time they said to complete the medical exam first, but the next time they said to schedule the biometrics appointment first, and then they would provide an interview appointment. However, when scheduling biometrics, it seems like you also have to schedule the interview, which doesn’t make sense.

There’s no clear information on VisaJourney or Reddit about this process.
