We have updates!

So we decided to go with this idea:
Our second packet (the one filed after our first one was rejected) had the wrong box crossed (spouse instead of K1 entrant). So we decided to take a gamble and NOT wait for the rejection of our second packet but immediately file our third packet. The plan was to wait and see if our second packet was accepted. If it was, we would void the cashier's checks on the third packet.

To our delight our third packet was touched and checks cashed 6 days(!!!) after it was delivered to the mail room. To our surprise our second packet still hasn't been touched. We have voided the cashier's checks on our second packet so that one will be automatically rejected.

Currently our status is as follows:
I-485 has both biometrics and interview checked off (interview seems waived and we got a notice that the biometrics from our first packet got reused).
I-765 has been received but biometrics still need to be recorded.

The last one seems a bit strange, because we got the notice for the I-485 that our biometrics would be reused and it is a concurrent filing after all...

What do you guys think about this situation?

When did you get a biometrics appointment before that was then reused if you had your packet rejected?

They created a biometrics appointment before rejecting my first packet. I decided to go to the appointment just to be safe and got all my biometrics taken. It was on Feb 19th.

Happened to us as well

It fixed once I logged out and logged back in

This fixed it! We are both a bit nervous after the initial rejection so it’s nice to open the portal and not see red angry text boxes 😅

Not to disappoint you, but interview always automatically gets ticked. They can still call you in for one. Sadly have seen it a lot on USCIS reddit

Submitted i-129F: 12-4-23
Received/NOA1: 01-31-24
Approved/NOA2: 06-05-24

Medical Exam: 08-06-24
Interview: 09-13-24 APPROVED
Visa in hand: 09-23-24
Moving date: 11-02-24
Married: 01-03-25
AOS Filed: 01-28-25
AOS Rejected: 02-25-25 (Mistake made on question 3a of part 2.)
AOS Refiled: 02-26-25

Biggest delay so far: requested SSN on 13th of November, never received the card, got the number in person Jan 16th.

Yeah... That status always gets marked complete after the biometrics but will get un-checked if they decide they want to interview you

I was reading Reddit posts, linkedin posts from immigration attorneys, and a news article. According to them, it is still unclear how it will be; some of them are saying that the applications will be simply rejected. According to the information on the USCIS website, this new form was available since 01/20/2025, but it wasn't, and they applied changes on 03/03/2025.

Agreed.  That subreddit is sadly a great place to fearmonger.  This is not the first update to the I-485 and it won't be the last.  An auto-denial based on forms is not the end of the world.  They don't cash your checks, everything gets sent back and you resubmit.  Adds maybe a few weeks to something that can take months to years.
