Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out to the community for advice or shared experiences regarding a frustrating situation with my Green Card processing.

I entered the U.S. on June 29, 2024, through the Diversity Visa Program and paid the required Immigrant Visa fee on June 26, 2024 online.

Upon my visa approval, I received a physical immigrant packet from the embassy, which I handed to the CBP officer upon entry. My passport was stamped with the I-551 temporary permanent resident endorsement. i received my SSC within 8 days but no gc.

After months of waiting and numerous calls, uscis answered my Inquiry stating as follow: A search of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records indicates that USCIS has not received your Department of State (DOS) issued Immigrant Visa (IV) Packet, which should have been submitted by the Port of Entry (POE) when you entered the United States. USCIS requires a completed IV Packet to process your Permanent Resident Card (PRC).

If you are in possession of your IV Packet, please mail the complete IV Packet to the following address:

USCIS
Attn: IV
2501 S State Highway 121 Business
Suite 400
Lewisville, TX  75067

If you are not in possession of your IV Packet, you will need to schedule an appointment with your local Field Office.

I made an appointment through info pass On November 18, 2024, during that, I submitted all the required documentation and any materials necessary for the packet recreation. Unfortunately, I received no updates after this appointment.

On January 8, 2025, I received a response to an inquiry I had submitted, which confirmed that USCIS still had not received the recreated packet. As a result, I was advised to schedule yet another appointment to address this issue.

Current Status:

  • My USCIS account only shows that the Immigrant Visa fee was received on June 26 and that my case was created on July 2, but there are no updates reflecting my appointments or actions taken.
  • My temporary document will expire on June 29, 2025, and I am worried about the lack of progress.
  • I have a second appointment scheduled at the field office to address this issue again, but I’m uncertain about how to ensure the matter is resolved this time.

Questions for the Community:

  1. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation where the original IV packet was lost or not processed correctly? what should I expect during the process?
  2. Do you have tips for handling my upcoming field office appointment to ensure my recreated packet is sent and processed correctly?
  3. is there any way to have them expedite the processing of my case considering repetitive delays and errors ?
  4. For those who’ve contacted their Congressperson, did it help speed up the process?

I appreciate any advice or insights you offer. This delay has been extremely stressful, and I’m eager to get this resolved.

Thank you!

Here is a thread that may be helpful.  One poster said contacting their Congressional representative helped.

And just to add that if you don’t get your physical GC before June, it’s easy to get an ADIT stamp - which is basically the same as you’ve got now in your passport but just extends it for another year. It’s free and they usually just mail it to you.

Good luck.

Thank you for your answers

I reached out to the congressman, hopefully they answer

for anyone who went through this process, is there anything I should mention about the i90 fees payment since I shouldn’t be paying anything?
