Hi there, thanks for starting this thread!

I filed I-130 petitions online (for mom and dad) on January 15, 2025, to bring them over from Europe (via consular processing).

Received the receipt confirmation notices on the same day.

No status update since then - case status for both petitions still say "Case Was Received and A Receipt Notice Was Sent."  I did however see today that a "myProgress" tab had been added to mom's file saying estimated time until case decision is 22 (!) months.  No similar update for dad.  Hoping both I-130 petitions will be processed sooner than that (was anticipating maybe a year or little over a year as a worst case scenario). Fingers crossed! 😅  Curious if anyone else got similar estimated processing time updates?

Estimates are known to be incorrect across the board for all types of cases.

You can safely ignore them.

Recent example :

You can search on VJ and find that most likely nobody ever had a good estimate on MyUSCIS

Hi!

Yay! That is exciting :) My mum is coming from England. I have the same updates. My estimate was listed as 23 months but trying not to pay attention to it.

I am a little worried of the process and the order it goes in. I have done many visas from J1, K-1, Green card and citizenships. It was very overwhelming to reopen another form haha!

Good luck and I hope we can stay connected though this process!

Phew, thank you for your responses @Sarah_k92 and @OldUser - much appreciated!  I will try not to pay too much attention to the estimated processing timeline for now.  I am cautiously optimistic about approval decision sometime this year, especially as the I-130 petition for parents of US citizens seem pretty straightforward (and there were some but not a ton of supporting document requirements, so thinking actual review should be fairly quick ...)  Anyway, good luck to us all and let's definitely stay connected!! 😀

The review will be quick, but it’s waiting your turn in line for that review that takes the time. Unless things speed up (most people expect the opposite to happen with the new administration) then it’ll be 2026 before the petition is approved - processing time is currently about 15 months.

But I agree with the above, ignore the estimated processing time on your online account completely! It’s notoriously unreliable.

Best of luck.

It’s set out step by step here - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition.html
