Update to our case, for those following timeframes etc.

01/14 - Package sent to Carol Stream, IL

01/16 - Delivered

01/22 - Text Message received (G-1145)

01/23 - Check cashed

01/24 - USCIS Case Tracker confirmed status changed to Biometrics Scheduled (For 02/11)

01/27 - Chat with agent via EMMA and received my online access code - Biometrics Notice, Receipt and Green Card Extension all held in my online account

01/31 - Receipt and Biometrics Documents received in Post

02/01 - Green Card Extension Document received in Post

Service Center is the National Benefits Center (NBC).

Now the long wait begins, but glad to have received everything so quickly, as due to travel in a couple of months, so no worrying about receipt of original extension letter or missing the biometrics appointment.

Update - 02/11 - Biometrics Appointment (a breeze...in and out in less than 5 minutes!), and case now changed to Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS, so the waiting game begins! Let's see if I get to the point where I can naturalise (under 3 year marriage route) before anything is done!

Actually, this is normal. The odd scenario is when biometrics letter arrives before extension letter.

Ive never received my extension letter only biometrics. What I should do? I already submitted a ticket for lost mails its been almost 3 weeks no update. How Im gonna travel without the original extension letter?

So I received a biometrics reuse letter and my son who was included on my application has relieved a biometrics appointment.

we both had our biometrics when applying for our green cards back in 2022 and so I’m wondering why he has to retake his and I am able to reuse mine.

You can't know for sure and nobody could tell you exactluly why. By default, everybody should do biometrics after filing I-751. Some people get biometrics reused, it's a little gift from USCIS, but it's also their discretion.

That makes sense.  I doubt we will ever know why.

Anyone planning on applying for  naturalization while their case is pending?  We filed our i-751 way late so we have the years to apply.

My husband is.  He can apply for citizenship in Jan and it looks like his 751 won't be finished by then.  I believe they will adjudicate both at once so that's the plan.

I think applying for naturalization actually shortens the green card process for many.

Just checked my husband's online account and his case has been approved!  New green card is processing!  Now the plan is to apply for citizenship as soon as he can.  I'm so shocked it happened this quickly!!

Approved in less than 2 months?  Congratulations!  You just made it through the most difficult part of the immigration for many people.  The naturalization process is a piece of cake.
