Hi everyone,

I recently completed the Direct Consular Filing (DCF) process for my spouse, and we’re now trying to track the green card after entering the United States. However, I’ve noticed that the case number we received during the DCF process seems to be different from the standard numbers used for tracking purposes.

Could anyone who has been through this process share tips on how to track the green card? Specifically:

1. Should we expect a new case number after arrival in the U.S.?

2. Are there any particular websites or tools (e.g., USCIS or USPS) that are more effective for tracking green cards issued through DCF?

3. If there’s a delay, which office (USCIS or NVC) should we contact for updates?

Thanks in advance!

Use the receipt number you got after paying the USCIS immigrant fee to track green card production on USCIS website. That is if you've paid the fee.

1. As said above your receipt number is from the fee, not your case.

2. This is the website you need to use - https://egov.uscis.gov/. Not sure if you saw my response on your previous thread?

3. If there is a delay (after 90 days of entry, or paying the fee, whichever came later) then you complete this form - https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayNDCForm.do?sroPageType=ndc&entryPoint=init

There is something I’m either not understanding or don’t know where to look. My wife paid all the fees directly at the consulate, and we have the receipts. However, none of the numbers on the receipts seem to work.

What fees did she pay? She wouldn’t have paid the GC fee at the consulate, it’s paid online after you receive the visa. https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-fees/uscis-immigrant-fee

Our process was done through DCF. Most of the final steps where done directly at the consulate. Thats why I initally made the post in the DCF section of the forum.

I understand that, but it doesn’t make any difference. The GC fee can only be paid online after the visa is received - see the link above. It’s $235, so check to see if you’ve paid it but if not then follow the payment link to do so.

Ok. Last fee paid was the $325 each. We obtained CR-1 through DCF, already received SS through mail. I thought what was paid at the consulate included the GC and SS.

Ah, ok so it doesn’t sound as though you’ve paid the GC fees.

Once you’ve paid them, then the GC’s should be with you within 90 days, but you can track it using the receipt number (starting with IOE). They’re usually delivered within about 6 weeks.

Good luck.

Op, I too just like @appleblossom suspect you haven't paid the USCIS immigrant fee. Once you pay it you'll get the necessary case number to track the GC production. Almost all the time, the instruction to pay to USCIS is given by the consulate when passport is picked up; how this was missed is a little baffling but things happen. At least you now have a clear direction on how to proceed. Good luck.
