We've just got an email asking for the original birth certificate which is physically in US at the moment......

Keep in mind an "original BC" really means a certified copy from the government agency that holds that record.  If you can order a certified copy online that is an option.

Good Luck!

Ah. Yes, you do need original/certified copy docs for some things, although it’s DCF it’ll be the same document requirements as usual - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents/step-7-collect-civil-documents.html

And in the meantime, if you haven’t already do start gathering the rest of the docs i.e. police certs etc.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the tip! We checked and for our state it will be mailed which would take a longer time... So we got someone to mail it to Singapore for us and will only receive it next Monday. Anxious!

I had the exact same scenario. I had to ship the certificate to Singapore using a courier service. Never thought I would need it.

My experience over there was very quick. Quicker than the normal DCF estimates here on the forums. We definitely would not have had the time to travel on ESTA or anything like that. However, that was years ago.....

Here’s our recent experience from Singapore:

in hindsight the process was fast but sometimes the wait was difficult. Good luck!

Thank you! I actually relied on your post a lot which is why I was worried I didn't get an approval to file within the next day but now we got the approval and interview scheduled was the next day! (TOMORROW!) Any idea how long the first interview would take? How long did yours take? Not sure if we should be canceling our lunch plans and my work calls...
