As you can tell by the title of this post I have quite a problem.

I really do not know where to begin, I feel very dejected right now. It has been such a difficult and long process I am on the verge of losing my mind.

If anyone at all can please offer some guidance, advice, tips, or similar experiences I would REALLY appreciate it. We have been together for two years and tomorrow was supposed to finally be the day we would be done with this process. I lived in the Philippines for around 4 months out of the past 16 months. I am currently in the US. Cleveland, Ohio.

My Fiancée's interview was scheduled for tomorrow. Yesterday afternoon two men on a motorcycle swiped her purse from her shoulder while she was in Manila. Her passport was in her purse.

If anyone has been to Manila you know you need ID to enter hotels, condos, etc. I am trying not to play what if’s and think about what I or she could have done differently so if we could please limit the discussion to how to proceed going forwards and constructive possible solutions my sanity would appreciate it very much.

Here is a summary of the current status and situation.

  • I have had an attorney since the beginning. He will be calling me in the next few hours. What I have noticed about immigration attorneys is that they are front end people. Once everything is accepted they are not as familiar with embassy processes, computer systems, etc. That’s why this forum is so valuable,

  • The last time I saw her in person was February of 2024

  • Her Biometric VAC appointment was completed 12/10/2024

  • Her medical exam Day one was completed 1/2/2025, the second day was completed 1/5/2025. The results were sent to the embassy.

  • Her interview was scheduled 1/7/2025.

  • I cancelled the interview appointment this morning 1/6/2025 after our texts around 3 am after finding out about the passport theft. I tried to reschedule but no slots were available. I also messaged the Embassy through the communication system to let them know her passport had been stolen and I had to cancel the appointment. I did not want a “no show” on our record.

  • I also realize that this is a quick turnaround from medical exam to visa interview but I was not concerned as I believe the results are uploaded digitally now and available very quickly at the embassy. Also everything else was in place and if medical results were not available I expected a 221G form with approval pending results being received.

  • She went to the police department to report the crime, she is going to get a copy of the police report.

  • In the morning to the government building to report her passport stolen and request a new passport 1/7/2025.

  • Since the Passport is stolen it will be a replaced passport not a reissued passport. This means that the passport # will be different from everything used so far.

  • She resides in General Santos City (Gensan), her flight back home leaves 1/8/25.

  • J.M. has been helping me over the past few weeks and has been amazing and I really appreciate his help. I have informed him of the situation and this thread post.

  • I have also reached out to my personal attorney. I also have some contacts that could possibly help me directly with the embassy but that is a roll of the dice and is a work in progress.

Thank you everyone who can offer any help or guidance. I have not been on this forum long but I wish I would have found it a year ago instead of a few months ago. This place is an amazing resource.

If anyone would like to reach out I am willing to give my personal phone number as I feel like I am in an emergency situation.

I will try my best to check, reply and update this post as frequently as possible. I have been up since 3 am making phone calls and sending emails but I should know more soon.

Thank you for your time and God Bless.

How quickly can she get a new passport? Not sure what else you had in mind but that is what is needed.

I think I have seen other threads where Passports have been stolen in PI.

After reading the OP's post my very first thought is to be sure that she documents the passport number of the stolen passport in the police report. That way, the police report can be used as supporting documentation as to why she will now have a different passport number than what has been submitted. I'm pondering the other points in the post but wanted to get this thought out there quickly as she already made the report and if it's not in there, maybe she can amend the report.
