My fiancé(74yr, M) and I(24yr, M) are applying for a K-1 visa, and we need to provide chat logs as evidence of our relationship.

We've been talking daily for years (2021 till now) on Messenger and WhatsApp, including video calls.

Should I take screenshots of every chat or just select key moments?

How many screenshots should I include, and what’s the best way to organize them so it’s clear and not overwhelming?

Any simple tips or advice would really help!

Btw, I'm from Bangladesh.

You will need evidence of meeting in person. How many times have you met face-to-face?  What sort of proof do you have?

Not a great fan of chats, by all means send some samples, as always quality not quantity.

With that age difference you’ll have to provide a ton of evidence to overcome any concerns about the age gap, chat logs won’t be enough. Add in a few pages of chat evidence, but just a few key bits, the main thing you need to do is give lots of evidence of time spent together in person. How many times have you met in person over the past 4 years?

Good luck.

We are going to meet next month for the first time. We could not meet in the first three years of our relationship because of the covid-19 concern and he has to be very careful at this age about this.

Btw, what are the pieces of evidence that I should prepare?

Btw, what are the pieces of evidence that I should prepare since we have long age gap?

I had evidence of three in person meetings totalling fifteen weeks. The fiance petition was approved without any requests for evidence.

In person meetings count more than online chats. I did not submit any evidence of those.

Your age gap is not something I can comment on. I have a six-year-age gap, but a fifty year age gap will be considered unusual.

Can you meet up three or four times this year and submit a fiance petition early in 2026?

Due to costs, I think we are going to meet once within the next few months and the duration may be 4-5 days to a week before submitting. Is this okey?

I am sorry. I don't know the answer to that. All I can is tell you about my own application which resulted in an approval.

One short in person visit and a large age gap might lead to a denial.

I hope everything goes well for you.

Bangladesh, a 50 year age gap and only a few days together in person would be risky.

Why can’t your partner stay longer? I’m assuming at 74 he’s retired.

It could end up being cheaper to do at least one more trip than to have to refile if refused, so personally I’d save up and wait until you’ve had more in person visits.

Also, if your partner can’t afford another flight, can he afford to go through the process? CR1 may be a better option if money is an issue.

No it's not OK. This looks suspicious and rightfully so. Most likely you'll receive a denial based on this scenario.

It does technically meet the "meeting in person in the last 2 years" requirement of the I-129F, but as others have noted, you will face scrutiny about the validity of your relationship if you have only been together in person for 4-5 days before deciding to get married. Much stronger evidence would include longer visits or multiple visits.

I know this is an immigration help forum and not a life advice forum, but I would also recommend much more time in person before you, personally, make the decision that this is someone you want to marry. Being in a long distance relationship is very different than living with someone in person.

The one big advantage at 74 is that you have the time for frequent and lengthy visits.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
