Update:

I received this email 01/13/25 regarding the rescheduling of my biometrics.

The status of this service request is:

You recently contacted us regarding your biometrics. After checking our system, we have found that your biometrics are still valid, and you will not be scheduled for a new appointment at this time. If you need further information regarding the status of your case, please check Case Status online at www.uscis.gov.

Not sure what this means, could it mean that because my green card is STILL valid up until the 24th of January it doesn't need to be rescheduled? On hold with them for an update. My case state has not been updated either.

Looks like they changed their mind about biometrics. E.g. it's reused now. But keep us posted.

It means you Win. Biometrics will NOT be rescheduled , your case will proceed on its merry way and you have nothing to worry about…no need to call them

It is a golden ticket.  They are not rescheduling your biometrics.  All is good.  Enjoy.

I find this confusing since you are removing conditions after originally entering on a CR-1 visa, and I am not familiar with biometrics already being on file  when going that route (as opposed to those who have previously provided biometrics during Adjustment of Status).

Maybe others can weigh in on that?

Yes would love to know. I contacted them twice today and both of them hung up on me.

Also tried Emma on chat today and the chats have been ended by all 3 representatives.

Not sure how to get answers, seems like they don’t want to tell me anything 🥲

I'm not sure what is confusing.

They have biometrics on file.

They consider those to be valid.

No need to do them.

....

When I renewed my 10 years card, they reused the ones I had taken over 10 years prior.  If it's good enough for them, I'm not going to argue or ask why 🤷‍♀️ (Bonus is that I look all young on my card)

Those tier 1 agents cannot see much more than you can while looking at online status. I'd say most of the times, they're there to provide some canned responses to get you disconnected as fast as possible. They probably have a target for how many people per hour they should reply to.

Don't take info above as absolute truth, but this is my impresison based on observations.

I am questioning when/how any biometrics came to be on file in this case.

They take biometrics at the interview (well, they took mines), I don't think they issue visas without biometrics.

Then, the point of biometrics is that they shouldn't change/change minimally so that they can be used to identify someone.  For most adults, there's probably very little benefits to redoing them as often as they used to.

I had biometrics done when I first moved to America on my CR1 visa. From memory, I couldn’t get my SSN/GC till I completed it. No one I knew from Australia who moved on a CR1 visa with me was required to complete the biometrics but I was.

Which year did you immigrate?  They also took your biometrics at the embassy/consulate during the interview.  Maybe those were not clear enough and that is why you had to redo them after entry.

Yes you rejogged my memory! I got a letter saying they weren’t clear enough. I immigrated in 2023 🙂
