I second the walk-in.  Just be prepared to wait.  It will be a big weight off your mind if you can get this done before you leave.

Not to scold you or anything, but pretty much nothing going on in the next week will be more important than getting your biometrics sorted out. You’re stuck in an urgent time frame and your immigration status/applications are not something to get complacent about. Not saying you are, but I don’t think anyone would advise waiting a week to address this given the dates you’ve given.

Everyone has a unique situation. I run a business and a team and cannot drop everything to run in on Friday, the day before the weekend to go sit there for 3-5 hours during one of the busy quarters for a business! Hope this helps someone else, because it's not very helpful.. Pretty inconsiderate of other's situations if you ask me 🙂

Life is full of priorities.....choices....and consequences.  I hope you get this straightened out soon.  Good luck on the rest of your journey.

What would happen if USCIS denied your I-751? Would any of this business matter if you cannot remain legally in the US?

I know for sure I'd drop everything to sort out immigration stuff unless my wife was giving birth on that day or I was getting $1000000 cash that I couldn't miss.

Apologies that I came off as inconsiderate. It’s just that one’s legal status dictates what they can even do in this country so it typically trumps any extraneous commitments they might have. I do realize you said “next week” and not “in a week” which is my mistake as you may be going Monday. I just don’t want to see someone who is well intentioned put themselves into an avoidable mess with ugly consequences. All the best.

As I said, everyone’s situation is unique! I don't think giving your opinion on situation (and on a Friday!) about how someone should manage this situation is very helpful. I cannot drop everything for an entire day without a few days notice. Thank you, & I hope this helps someone else :)

Thank you! I know how messy USCIS can get. I moved over here from Australia when the US embassy was closed in Sydney and felt the repercussions of that. It took me almost 2 years to move to America and it was a very unsettling 2 years. I am going first thing Monday morning, thanks to everyone’s advice asking me to walk in! I wouldn’t have thought I could do that, but thankfully I posted!

Yes, going first thing Monday morning. Couldn’t reorganise my business commitments last minute on a Friday! Not sure why everyone is giving their two cents on how I should be managing my business commitments. Only found out last-night I could walk in & wait!

I did an early walk in for my biometric appointment for my N400, because by mistake USCIS sent me to my older State, which is about 4 hours from where I live now. So I attempted an early appointment to see if I could avoid the drive, and missing one day of work. Alas! It worked. I went to my appointment first thing Monday morning (I was at their parking lot at 7:30 am) and they let me in. I did tell my supervisor at work, though, that I did not know if I was going to come in that morning because this appointment was very important to me. As others have stated, without your biometrics your case will be denied, and then later on you might be out of status, so your job might gown down the sink as well. Not worth it!

I’m going in first thing Monday morning! Hopefully they have something available.  Not sure what my luck in Florida will be & that I’ve already requested to reschedule my biometrics when I contacted them over the phone last week. Will keep you all posted, hopefully I get it resolved Monday! I can’t imagine my case will be denied as the appointment was December 31st and I was in California for Christmas & New Year.

So I will try to make this story short. We moved from WV to Ohio back in 2021. Surely enough, I notified USCIS of my new address. I even filed the 751 from our new address! And got all USCIS mail in my new address. But somehow when I filed for N400 they sent me to WV for my biometrics for February 23rd. WV is about five hours from me. So the first thing I did on that Friday when I received the biometrics appt is to call USCIS misinformation line and told them about the situation. The lady said “oooh don’t worry, I’ll send a request to reschedule you to your closest ASC”. She just laughed it off in a way. I have an ASC that’s 20 minutes from my house. So I decided to ignore her advice on the phone not to worry, and took matters into my own hands. I did a walk in first thing in the morning that Monday, and I’m glad I did because they never rescheduled me.

Hi,

I received a letter regarding my biometric interview on December 31st, 2024. However, I was in California and received the letter once I returned to Florida. I never got an email regarding the interview schedule, so I missed the interview.

I called today to reschedule, and he said that if USCIS believes I haven't abandoned my case they will reschedule an interview in 30 days and I leave the country back to Australia in 2 weeks for 3 weeks! Will I be able to re-enter America when I return? Gives me so much anxiety after the nightmare I had getting into the country almost 2 years ago!

I went in today at 7:30am and waited in line. I was told by the supervisor they CANNOT see me as USCIS has NOT rescheduled my appointment with a new appointment date.

He said, when USCIS gives me an appointment date before I go to Australia and the date is while I’m in Australia to come in and speak to him before I go but my new appointment should be scheduled in 30 days. It seems doubtful I will receive a new apt day in 10 days.

He said they do NOT accept walk-in appointments if you have MISSED an appointment and I cannot wait until someone doesn’t show. It’s ALL by appointment only.

Maybe it’s just Florida, I guess you’re lucky if you walked in days after a missed appointment. Such a shame.

Please share your thoughts on what to do if I have issues re-entering America with my extension letter, expired green-card & valid Australia passport. Should I bring anything else with me? I guess my global entry won’t work since my GC is not valid. So much anxiety!
