Hi,

I received a letter regarding my biometric interview on December 31st, 2024. However, I was in California and received the letter once I returned to Florida. I never got an email regarding the interview schedule, so I missed the interview.

I called today to reschedule, and he said that if USCIS believes I haven't abandoned my case they will reschedule an interview in 30 days and I leave the country back to Australia in 2 weeks for 3 weeks! Will I be able to re-enter America when I return? Gives me so much anxiety after the nightmare I had getting into the country almost 2 years ago!

When does the card expire? Did you move at all? Everyone has different risk tolerance but I wouldn't leave the US until situation is resolved

My green card expires on the 24th of January 2025. I have a letter saying it's been extended for 10 years pending biometrics. I have to go to Australia, my flights are non-refundable and I haven't seen my family in 2 years.

If you miss an I-751 interview after they properly notify you, USCIS must deny your case.....I would NOT leave the US before getting this fixed.

Conditional Green Cards are extended for 48 months.

Without valid green card you won't be able to return and no airline will board you

OP can be boarded with an expired Green Card and original 48 month extension letter.

Was this a missed biometrics appointment or a missed I-751 interview appointment?

Hi, it was a missed biometrics appointment! I have the i797 notice of action. Will this be enough to get back into America with an expired Green Card?

You will need either an unexpired Green Card or an expired conditional Green card along with the 48 month extension letter.  You should received the 48 month extension letter right after they received your I-751.

Thank you, wildbug100420 is saying i cannot re-enter the USA with my 48-month extension letter?? The extension letter I got is Notice I-797 saying ''we have extended the validity period on your form I-551, permanent reside card (also known as green card) for 48 months from the date of expiration. During this extension, you are authorized to work and travel. This notice presented with your expired Permanent Resident Card, is evidence of your status of employment authorization.

Can you please let me know, even though my biometrics appointment was missed as I was out of state, this won't affect me re-entering America?

You CAN re-enter the US using either an unexpired Green Card or using an expired conditional Green Card and that 48 month extension letter.
