Hello,

I received my certificate of naturalization but forgot to sign it at the ceremony.

I remember the clerk mentioning a specific color pen to use to sign it. I'm pretty sure he said blue and they were handing out blue pens, but I forgot and wanted to confirm with folks here.

Would folks happen to know if blue or black is preferred for the Certificate?

Much thanks.

There was a time before Covid they actually made you practice signing your signature at the interview on a dummy certificate before they made you sign the real naturalization certificate before you actually took the oath. Now, since covid, it's a take home to sign on your own because they don't enforce the signature signing at the interview. Blue or black, I don't think it matters. I signed my certificate pre-pandemic at the interview with black. My spouse signed at home post pandemic with blue.

Black or blue probably doesn't matter.  Just had a need to look at my wife's last week and she signed it in black ink (several years ago).
