Well, it depends on what you see as a benefit. I wouldn't opt out of a procedure for medical reasons, such as already stated. But it seems to me that health benefits are low on the totem pole for parents choosing circumcision in this country. It seems to be based on family tradition. Does Europe have higher rates of health problems due to having uncircumcised men? I mean, honestly, it ain't difficult to keep yer tackle clean, for god's sake.

It's not JUST cleanliness though. I think there is a little bit more to it then that, and of course, family tradition as you say. From a woman's perspective, I just think it's....nicer? haha To each her own I suppose.

If male circumcision didn't already exist, do you think we would invent it? Can you imagine having a conversation with your doctor after giving birth to a son? "In the slight chance that he gets an infection down there later in life, and to de-sensitise him a little so he may have longer sex, and to cut the risk of HIV infection in half if he chooses to have unprotected sex, oh, and to make it look a bit better, we want to cut off his foreskin."

It seems that we start with a tradition (based, if to believed, on the taboo of masturbation) and continue it, then going looking for the justification.
