IL Summer Slowdown 2024

Hey everyone, I’ve noticed there were some worldwide consular post slowdowns in interview scheduling during this summer.

 

Does anyone know why this happened and is this typical slowdown to happen every summer?

Yep, it's standard - staff leave coupled with an increase in certain other visa applications (student visas etc), and also the September deadline for DV visas.

Thanks. Apparently, some folks thought the slowdown was attributed to prioritize chain migration visa categories (Keeping Families Together) over fiance and spousal visa categories.

 

Thoughts?

Immediate relatives are prioritised, and there is always a summer slowdown so it's normal. And there's no way to expedite most preference categories anyway when a visa isn't available to them. So personally I don't think that's the case.
