Yes I know its so painful, but how i can assume that I am close to end of waiting? its 17 months already, maybe they will take complete 24 months :( or 28 or 30?  even if 24 months still its 7 months left.

It is just a guest going off the posts from VJ.  Are you on the spread sheet, you can check the stats from others who recently got out of AP?

I will share a detailed list in a few days, when i get my packet.   I am under ir1 visa.    Interview june20 2024,   ds 5535  same day.    I did use congresman,   i went through the lawyer route from the very start due to arrest record, and did not use WOM.      Likely was put in ds5535 due to multiple reason, so hard to say why.   Drug addict brother with similar name,   he stole my sin so i had two names on my cra, my arrest   and a few other things probably, nothing serious or deflecting on me, just all kinds of things to be generally cautious on.

Hi there, do you mind if I ask if you were required to file for an exemption for crimes involving moral turpitude?  If not, how were you approved with arrest record?

Our case was denied due to a single petty theft offense that happened over 15 years ago, with no jail time- consulate said we needed exemption. We hired a lawyer and now LegalNet is reviewing our case. Been stuck in the limbo since denial in Nov 2024. Interview was Jan 2024 (I filed for k1 Feb of 2022!)- they held his passport all of last year just to finally get around to denying in Nov. 😒

Did they also request that he files form DS-5535?

Hi all,

I have a question about DS-5535 updates timeline.
Our case had two updates since the interview date (March, 21, 2025). However, the status didn't change. I was wondering how many updates I should expect before their decision.

Were you actually issued and submitted a DS-5535 or are you in regular AP?

Our case is in AP because of DS-5535. We had 3 updates since then (almost 3 weeks ago). But I'm not sure how to interpret them. Is there a general number of updates that typically happen before a final decision is made?

Hi all,

I did my IR1 interview at Montreal in October 2024. They kept my passport but refused the case. Then in December 2024 there was a follow up interview by fraud prevention. My medical expired in March 2024,but April 4th,2025 they sent an email requesting a new medical exam and 2 passport sized photos. I did the medical exam on April 7th,2025 and the photos were also delivered to consulate on April 7th. Also the case status did briefly change on April 2nd,2025 from refused to ready but then it was back to refused. My case was not a DS5535 one, but I’m wondering what the turnaround time will be after the consulate receives the medical exam results and also given the fact that they kept my passport at the interview and never gave it back.

If you were handed a DS-5535 in March, it would be REALLY surprising to see it come through the system that quickly.  All DS-5535's go through a central adjudication center and aren't handled locally, as I understand it.  Not to be a negative Nelly, but rather to be realistic, if you look at the spreadsheet, I don't think anyone has gone less than 3 months for a decision in essentially forever.  It's more like 6mo+.  There will be other factors for consideration too.  Things like what is your educational background (TAL or not)? Where have you traveled to in the past and what was your purpose there?  What is your family heritage?  Do you have a common name?

Fingers crossed it goes quickly for you.
