I just received the instructions that I have to send a new police certificate with the new medical. I think the police clearance is valid for 2 years but not 100% sure.

Hope it's two years! 🤞🏼 My husband's second police certificate was issued January 2024, so if it's just one year we may have to do it for a third time...

Hi everyone, apologies for posting this a couple days late. I’ve caught the flu since weathers changing. I’m pleased to say I have gotten my k-1 visa issued and entered the states! here is my brief timeline, in hopes it can help you and ease your mind the way previous posts have eased mine. Here is the following updates after receiving the email to submit new documents.

November 8th: ( done new medical + sent passport and new photos via Canada post)

November 12: documents delivered

November 20th: medical was delivered

November 21st ( unsolicited update)

November 25th (unsolicited update)

December 3rd ( case changed from refused to “Application Received”)

December 11th ( contacted congressman and also sent an email from my end)

December 12th ( Case changed from “Application Received” to “ Approved”)

December 13th ( Case changed to Issued!!)

December 16 ( received email stating that my documents were available for pickup via BLS location, I picked up the passport the same day)

December 17th ( flew into USA and activated my visa)

* some notes*
when passing through customs, I did get pulled into secondary, when you receive your documents back there will be a sealed envelope that you are not allowed to open, the USA officer needs to open it at secondary customs, your passport is on the outside of it for travelling purposes. Allow yourself some time to go through secondary because sometimes there’s a lineup. Also if you notice your case is not moving contact your congressman, I’m not sure if that worked for us but the next day my case moved, it’s worth a try. I wish you guys all the best and hope all of you see good news soon.

Hi everyone, for those who have an option of Adjustment of Status after receiving DS-5535, I'm happy to report that my experiment is over: I applied for AOS on February 26, and it got approved today.

My original interview at the consulate was on September 18, 2023 (details are in the spreadsheet), which means by now I would've probably been approved at the consulate as well. So it appears AOS didn't save time in my case, but it did save money on airplane tickets, and it was a safer option for me.

I could find only one other report in the whole internet of what happens with AOS after DS-5535, so I hope my report will be helpful.

Feel free to ask me privately to keep this thread on topic.

It is good to share your experience. Sometimes some think it's easy to just do AOS instead because they heard so and so, not knowing that entering the US on a tourist visa to adjust status is fraud. For those new readers and log time members of this thread, dmitrych qualified for a dual intent visa. This allowed a legal path to GC wile inside the US.

Thank you for the update

just got the email to send my medical and photos in.      really happy about this, want to get it completed asap.  her is my timeline

curious what people have done for the photos?   did they bring them to the medical first before sending them?   did the doctor send them digitally with the medical?    were they physically mailed?   if so,  has anyone mailed using the can post recently?

Hi Alex2024...two unsolicated updates on Dec 02 (after they received my passport) and Dec 05 (when my medical was uploaded by the doctor). I presume that these two updates are related to those two events.

Is your passport with the montreal consulate as well?
