Hi all,

Im a us citizen and my gf was an international student who just got her EAD card on OPT. She also has an F1 visa. She was a stem major so she still has 2 years left on her OPT.

We are planning on getting married in summer of 25’. however there is one issue. I recently (November) moved to  Texas for a new job at big tech. And from what im hearing, i can only request transfer to different city after 1 year. My gf lives and works in Massachusetts and her employer are not open to her working remotely so either she moves to austin after finding a new job while being on OPT, or she stays there and work, and i move there after a year. She’s been applying but shes getting rejections.

I know we have to show that we are genuinely married and i plan to add her name on lease in Austin, will also add her name in joint bank accounts, health insurance etc. she will also add my name in her lease in Boston too. We have a lot of pictures together and will have more over wedding here etc.

What is the best process for this? Can i still file i130, i485 with 2 separate addresses etc? We also plan to hire a lawyer for this process but i haven’t reached out to them yet but after Christmas and NYE, i will do. So is this something doable?

Thank you again

Document all the visits and how this is temporary and your longer term plans

Marriage certificate

DL from your state using your address for home address / students can drive on out of the state license and we use home address  not our college address

File tax returns as MFJ (using Texas address)

If u pay any of her expenses like college books add those for additional proof

and remember after marriage it will take a long time for AOS to complete,  and you may be actually living together /just be sure the petitioner changes address (if the USC moves ) with USCIS form AR-11
