My husband had his interview today at Islamabad embassy. They approved all the documents and at the end gave him the 221G white slip that had AP checked off and passport to be sent via courier. He said the interview officer asked for his travel dates to other countries which he gave and then asked for PCC report which he didn’t have because he had already left the country and the country doesn’t provide non citizens pcc if they have already left the country (listed on the state website as well) Officer didn’t give him a chance to explain or ask for other information. He asked if he needs to provide something and reason for refusal, they said they need more time on their end and didn’t ask for anything else. They didn’t send him any form or ask him to fill out anything to give more information. I know AP has no time frame but in standard cases how long does it typically take or has taken people in their experience?

If you did your homework, you already know any Pakistani male is going into extended AP after the interview.  No way was the visa going to be approved at interview.  This has been true for more than twenty years.  If a PCC is not available, it won't be required.  You don't mention the country.  Even so, the Dept. of State will now begin the extensive, expensive, on the ground investigations every Pakistani Male and many Pakistani females go through after an otherwise successful interview.

Relax.  He's in AP.  It's expected, not a secret, and should not be a surprise to you.

6 months?

Probably, at least that.  6 to 18 months is what I've seen.  More complicated when there is an additional country involved, with no PCC available.

The other country was Saudia, it was mentioned because they asked for his travel history from him. Assuming they know pcc is not available as they didn’t ask for that on the white slip or anything. Else.  It’s not a shock he’s in AP but just trying to get a general time line from peoples experience. Thank you for your help. :)

Hello Rabi, Sorry to hear about your husband case, this look like that almost all Pakistani male applicant are already subject to AP before interview only 50 % to 60 % don't get or fell in this blackhole on interview day, remaining applicant will have to go through this painful wait.

I am also a victim of AP. There is no time limit what I saw online he will be clear in 3 to 6 months (because this look like internal embassy matter white paper only),but if embassy decided to get security clearance for your husband, then this can take anywhere between 8 months to 18 months.

Majority cases get cleared in 9 months to 15 months. Stay strong, If embassy ask for any document that you can provide, provide them ASAP if not possible, let embassy know about it, explain it to them properly.

Now the most important thing , what does CEAC portal says about case(what is case status on ceac website?).If status is AP then be hopeful you will hear good news soon, but if it is "refused" then you are in many months long wait.
